Many of you already know or realize that I take a different approach from many other practitioners in the autoimmune Universe. You see me post about tarot cards, essential oils, and crystals. I talk about meditation and loving yourself and forgiving yourself and knowing you are whole and enough. I post about some AIP foods and some not. I take a different approach for a reason. And I want to tell you a little bit about WHY.
Western medicine didn’t fix me. Therapy didn’t fix me. The Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP) didn’t fix me. Nutrition didn’t fix me. Yoga didn’t fix me. Supplements didn’t fix me.
You know why?
First, I never needed any fixing.
Second, I am my own healer.
The information and suggestions I present to you are meant to be tools for your toolbox and knowledge for your healing process. I am here to support and guide you and so are rest of the women in this community. But, ultimately, you are your own healer. With the appropriate tools, you can create your own magic, your own path to wellness and abundance.
So, let me explain better. You were born perfect. You may have lost your way. But, you can return. Jessica Flanigan said, “whatever is present in your life is here for your soul’s growth.” This drastically reshapes my mindset around illness. Instead of labeling myself as “celiac” I drop the story and I am just “Sarah.” Instead of saying “I have anxiety,” I say, “I am experiencing anxiety, what is it here to teach me?” Or “I am experiencing horrible digestive pain, what message is my body sending me?” And then I become a better listener. I become more aware.
You are not your illness.
You are your own healer. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been to MANY doctors, energy healers, chiropractors, herbalists, etc. And I’ve gained a LOT from many of these experiences and sessions. There is an important place for all of these professions and I think we can all gain from a coach or mentor. But, the most important message I’ve received is that I get to choose how I live my life. I get to choose my beliefs. With the right tools, I can begin to heal myself. It took me a long time to realize that there is no one-size-fits-all path for healing. Moreover, that autoimmune diet you are on, might not work for me. Ultimately, the more in-tune with my body I am and the more information I receive from it, the more I am empowered to make healing choices for ME. So, I encourage you to learn and soak up all the information you can, get advice, listen to podcasts, schedule a massage or energy session, but also know that you are the most powerful healer of all.
You might not be ready for this approach and that’s okay. My goal is simply to present as many tools to you as possible. Take what resonates with you and leave what doesn’t. Build your healing tribe. Fill your toolbox with what your body responds best to. Empower yourself to feel whole. Ask for help along the way. But make the decisions that best serve your soul.
Consider making one of these your mantra this week.
